watch over this princess who belongs to Me.

Let The Lord Be Your Defense

Psalm 94:22

22But the Lord has been my defense, and my God the rock of my refuge.

Imagine being a poor widow, a stranger in the land and holding one of the lowliest jobs in society. That was Ruth’s situation, so it would have been easy for her to feel vulnerable and defenseless. But because she trusted the Lord (Ruth 1:16), He placed her under Boaz’s protection.

Boaz, the owner of the field she worked in, commanded his young men saying, “Let her glean even among the sheaves, and do not reproach her.” (Ruth 2:15) What he was saying to his men was this: “She might be a gleaner, but because I care for her, treat her with respect and make sure she is not put to shame.”

Boaz is a picture of our Lord Jesus. If you are feeling vulnerable and defenseless right now, imagine Jesus commanding His angels, “Watch over this one who belongs to Me. Make sure he is treated with respect and not put to shame because he is someone I love and someone whom I died for.”

God’s Word tells us that if God is for us, who can be against us? (Romans 8:31) No one who has set himself against us can prevail because when God is for us, His protection is upon us. That is why I have never answered any of the poison email messages which I have received in the course of my ministry.

My attitude is this: Jesus is my defense. If He does not defend me, it means that there are things in my life that are not to be defended, and I would be glad to find out about them now rather than later. On the other hand, because I take the Lord as my defense, and He defends me, what can those who are against me do to me?

When you defend yourself, you have only your two hands and your own human resources. But when you let Jesus take up your defense, He defends you with His nail-pierced hands and His legions of angels! The results will be amazing.

Beloved, the Lord is your defense and refuge. Trust Him to defend and protect you!

chew-able love.

i don't know exactly how i made it through the past month, but i know i couldn't have done it without Jesus nor my family who have showed me unconditional love and support in more ways than one. it's funny how i have tons of photographs with everyone else, but when it came down to finding a family photo, it's like searching for a needle in a haystack. shows how much we often take what we have right beside us for granted.

i love you.

private access only.

i got bored with always running in circles around my house, so i asked my father to build me a road. it's got to be extremely straight, with marked lanes (in case i want to organise races), and a great view. how sweet of him to have obliged!

my papa's road

i went for a test run today with mummy and boy must i say i'm extremely satisfied with it. there's even a gently sloping bridge with great views of one of the rare rivers and forest left in singapore.

mummy testing the freshly laid tracks

the best part is, it's linked from my house all the way to jalan kayu. running straight down to roti prata heaven!

big bird in motion

see, told you i'm delirious with my new road. too bad my dad says i gotta share it with the rest of singapore soon. =/

p.s. did i mention that the view of the sunset along the road is absolutely stunning? it's like forrest gump running towards heaven. love love love it! =)

life story.

the thing about life is that you'll never know what will be thrown in your face. it could be lollypops one moment and lemons the next. just when you think you're being thrown the worst shit ever, you take a look around and realise that everyone around you is handling their own too, in one way or another.

but the thing about His promise is that not all things may be good, but it will definitely work out for good.

we keep moving forward, and on some days we move a few steps back, but every moment is an experience in itself. at the end of each step, we learn and we grow - stronger and wiser.

even heroes have their bad days too.

you'll just have to pick yourself up, dust the dirt off your ass, give a megawatt smile and embrace the rest that life has to offer. after all, it's mostly good stuff isn't it? =)

woohoo!

no sub-60 but happy nonetheless considering the crowd and slopes. p.s. check out ex-hwa chongian mok ying ren in 3rd place!

finally completed my first ever 10km run! a big thanks to mike who accompanied me and ran beside me even though he could have zoomed off into the sea of red. the nike singapore organisers must have had a earful because the run wasn't very well planned at all. the routes weren't exactly scenic, it was so crowded that there were human jams, all i smelled most of the way was the other 11,000 people's sweat in the air and people were brushing past me every second. being extremely sensitive to my private space (you know those kind where i'd get annoyed if people stood too close to me on the train), it wasn't the most pleasant of runs for me. there were also many up and down slopes which really killed my thighs and they're aching like hell today. thank god mike was there to encourage me and yes i finally ran a corporate race!
