this is officially the best burger joint in a long time, and i'm glad mike and i set out to look for it when we were in amsterdam! burger meester (translation: burger master) is conveniently situated at the end of albert cuyp market, a small space with a very casual atmosphere. we went for the mini trio sampler so that we could try a wider variety, and everything was lipsmacking delicious!
found it!
the mini trio consisted of the meester biefburger (beef burger with grilled veg and tarragon mayo), spaanse lamburger (lamb burger with chorizo and jalepanos) and visburger (fish burger with grilled asparagus and lemon mayo). after 4.5 months in holland and constant grocery shopping, 90% of my dutch vocabulary consists of nothing but food names. =D
the band of burger brothers
my favourite was the beef burger. the beef was well seasoned and grilled until it was tender, with a slice of perfectly grilled eggplant on it and the magical tarragon mayonaise. a bite and i went straight to heaven.
mike's favourite was the lamb burger. superbly seasoned as well, with no funky smell that lamb usually has if not seasoned properly. the fish burger was good too but it kind of got overshadowed by its fellow meat buddies.
salade mozza
we also ordered a grilled vegetables salad and everything was grilled to perfection. loved the combination of the buffalo mozzerella with the greens! at around 7 euros for a huge burger of this quality, it definitely wasn't expensive at all. we loved it so much that we returned on the last day to takeaway a huge burger each for our dinner at the airport. i love holland! i love burger meester!
